>Hi Hilmar,
>Do you also use the defect tracking feature in Perforce?
Sorry, what is that about?
>And if you could use VSS for free, would you? Or do you think Perforce is a better product?
About the same. The integration with VSS is a little simpler, but I think each of the two has its own advantages. I suggest, give it a try.
I use Perforce mainly because it is free for 1-2 developers, and I found that of the VSS features, it has all I need. But if you currently, or in the future, have a larger team (more than 2 developers), well, the price per seat is comparable to VSS.
Please remember that this category of product is extremely useful even for a single developer.
Hilmar.
