In the interests of fairness, people need to read the actual interview. Try
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/ThisWeek/World/villepin_transcript030302.htmlPeople also need to read de Villier's actual UN speech (which caused the chamber to errupt in applause, a very rare event) as well as his 3 March statement with Ivanov and Fischer.
Not everybody will agree with Mr Wills that Mr de Villiers is a disingenuous, nasty little foreigner who doesn't make sense.
As for Saddam wishing he had nuclear weapons: every despot who loses wishes he had a doomsday weapon.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
