Hello Hans,

>I'm looking for a program that can search for a character in my entire project and gives me a list of all forms, reports, ... that contain that character.

This is the utility that will do exactly what you want, and it's available right here on the UT in the downloads area:
GoFish.app v3.0 Global String Search/Edit/Replace File #9925
GoFish.app can search for a string in all the files within a FP or VFP project and/or a particular directory/subdirectories. It is able to directly edit the found strings which are automatically recompiled (VFP). And, it has the option of Auto-Replacing the found strings with another string. This utility is compiled in VFP 6.0 to run in VFP 6 and higher. Projects searched can be VFP or FP."

I've used it extensively since I discovered it last year, and it's been a real timesaver for me. I see by the other messages that you're working in VFP5 - so this might not be the solution for you.

Here's another search utility by a Dutch author:
Foxpro text expression search File #13890 "Search your complete vfp project for a single text expression and open the form or class in the right method on the right place."

but the description does not say anything about VFP versions that it is suitable for.

And another: Search And Replace (for scx, dbf, frx, etc) File #10016 "This utility will perform a "Search And Replace" on any text within any property on a form, report, menu, database, class library, etc. or on any field in a table. Searches can be "exact" or "case-sensitive". You can process an entire folder at one time."

but this does not appear to have the list of files functionality you are hoping for.

HTH,
Randy Bosma
