>That's an important point. A one-on-one is not a "meeting". You are the hub, and each of your people is a spoke. Maybe once in a while they'd like to hear about the big picture, but most of the time it is your job alone to fit their work into the big picture, and despite "open book" management theories to the contrary, bringing everybody up to speed every day about everything is not likely to return a positive value. You and your project documentation are the only ones who really need to know that level of detail about each person and task.
So, your developers are just ants in a nest, and they have no idea of the design goals, and overall big picture. I don't know that I could work in the environment.
