I read that article and I see your issue--it says that "For Crystal Reports to recognize more than 255 characters, the COM database provider must return an 'adLongVarchar' field type." Well, thank you for that info, Crystal! Since you provided the COM, you're the provider! Is it possible that Crystal is saying that you should find or create a DLL that returns an adLongVarchar?

I wonder if you can make a procedure that returns smaller fields. Alternatively, you could create a DLL that wraps around the one provided and exposes all of the functionality you need, but also breaks down those fields into teaspoonsful. That seems excessive.
