Tracy;
Two things that occur with aid sent to other countries:
1. The money goes into a Swiss bank account in the name of the countries leader.
2. If we send food, the food is sold for military armament.
Sometimes the aid may get to the intended recipient.

>Just another instance of how our aid is more political than humanitarian. Keep the public $ at home I say. If Americans were truly knowledgeable about humanitarian needs in other countries, I think most would voluntarily contribute (those that could). Many do not like the idea of the government deciding which country is more deserving and then later to find out that those countries were more deserving not because of humanitarian reasons but political ones.

>>>Like you, I would like to see most (if not all) of the U.S. $ to foreign governments applied here within our borders. We have homeless people, poverty-stricken people, people without medical insurance, too much dependence on foreign fuel sources, and I could go on and on and on. SNIP

>>Assuming that it's true, A commentary on CNN two days ago noted that the top two recipients of U.S. foreign aid by far (their words) are ...taa-daa!... Isreal and Egypt, in that order.
