Valid points in today's current economic environment. Whenever there are a large number of experienced people in a particular field that are desperately looking for jobs, they will accept a lower pay hoping to find something better later. In the meantime, the average salary for all of us goes down in the process. However, that is the rule of supply and demand, isn't it? As long as someone is willing to do the work for that pay, then the market will accomodate. You cannot tell someone with a family to raise that they should 'not accept a position less than $' because they will take whatever they can get if they are desperate enough. If they don't, someone else will and they will have accomplished nothing except turning down $ for their family.

>I have an issue with recruiting firms. I personally feel that they will be a downfall for the IT industry. For example there are many firms out there trying to fill positions for companies who need bodies. Firm A says they can fill that position with a body for x amount. Firm B says they can fill that position with a body for an amount less than x and firm C claims they can fill the position for even less. Now, this is understandable for the firm because they want the commission for filling the position. However, all the while these recruiting firms are under cutting the each other for the commission, they are also driving down the pay scale for person(s) looking for jobs. And I’m betting that half the time the firms who are filling the positions don’t know enough about the skill set required, that they fill them with the wrong people. These recruiting firms are filling these positions with people who aren’t experienced enough to know better or some poor schmuck who needs the
>job so desperately that he/she will take the job for a third of what they should be paid, who, will always be looking for the BBD (Bigger Better Deal). Eventually, recruiting firms will drive all of our salaries down and give our field a bad name.
