We all have our opinions and here is mine on the state of Oregon. By the way my father was raised in Ukiah, Oregon, and I spent some time while in the Air Force in that state. I may even retire there.

Oregon is a beautiful state with diverse land – lush green to desert. Its politics are perhaps a bit conservative but still “West Coast”, a complex blend at that. The area where my father grew up is in the northeastern region of Oregon. I have done some reading on that area and visited it last year, and will be going back in a few weeks. That particular area is well known for what is termed “Survivalists”.

The term “Survivalists” may mean super patriot, dislike and distrust of federal government, fear of being attacked by another nation, just for starters. They believe in the right to bear arms to an extreme.

“Survivalists” can be found anywhere and if one happens to be a politician or has been influenced by such thinking, then you may get some interesting bills or laws submitted. That does not mean that they will get passed but it will get the attention of others. We have extremists everywhere and hopefully they are in the minority. Should extremists become the majority then you will see serious problems.

As you know extremists to one person may be normal while to another person abnormal. It is all a matter of acceptance.
