If what you are saying is that you've created a cursor interactively and now you want to be able to see the fields while you are designing the report with the Report Designer ... here's what you can do ...

In the command window, SCATTER MEMVAR MEMO. Now when you look at the expression builder the "fields" will show up as memory variables in the list on the right instead of with the list of fields on the left. It's not perfect .. but it's better than nothing!!

>well, isn't it actually a bug? The problem is not just "not seeing" the cursor in tha data environment, much more is it that you can't use the fields of the cursor with the expression builder in any way.

Then they could execute "create report" or "modify report" and finally save the cursor definition and the report for later use. That doesn't work any more, since the user can't see the cursor fields in the expression builder.
