No I haven't tried that. I don't think getobject() has some superiority over createobject() in this situation.
Even if that works I wouldn't use it :( -explained dangers in the past here-
PS: There were no instances of Excel running.
I think this has something to do with installation of office. It works very well on other computers with XP Pro+Excel2002. Program is in use in many type of OS+Office for a long time and this is the first one I'm having trouble with.
