As others have said, something is not right, and it sounds like it's worth fixing your problem. I wouldn't want to wait 20 seconds every time I wanted to open a form, to be sure. And by contrast, I have, for example, one huge legacy formset in vfp7 that's incredibly busy, but still opens all the forms, tables, and classes, etc. in 1 or 2 seconds at most.
To troubleshoot, I'd start a new PRJ, and add things piece-by-piece, testing each time you add a form, class, DBC, etc., until it gets slow, then you have found the problem.
Or, it may never show up at all in a new PRJ - maybe a fresh rebuilding of your PRJ will fix things, by default...you may have something bad in a vfp metatable that vfp has trouble reading, for example.
Also, another thing I can think of that causes such delays is when a slow, difficult, or futile search for a net connection and/or file occurs. Those take around 20 seconds, and may not always give any message - can you think of anything in your PRJ that might do that - some kind of net search problem?
