I agree, something is not right...
I don't think it has to do with the .prj - the form doesn't have to be part of a project. And it is not related with our classes either.
I just created an empty form based on the VFP base class, added 5 files to DE, and saved, then MODIFY FORM took around 6-7 sec. Removing one table at a time, the opening time decreases by ~1 sec, when there is no table in DE it takes less than 1 sec.

And by contrast, I have, for example, one huge legacy formset in vfp7 that's incredibly busy, but still opens all the forms, tables, and classes, etc. in 1 or 2 seconds at most.
