As I said, default to open in a new window when clicking a thread/message link is GOOD for the reason you say (don't want to lose top part).

but in the NEW window clicking on Map - which is said to have the message frame as its link target - it opens WITHIN the same window as where it was clicked.
Now the messages in the map apparently (also) have the message frame as their target, just like the Map, YET THE MESSAGE ACTUALLY OPENS IN THE MESSAGE AREA of another window.
It looks very incongruant to me. Shouldn't theyboth DO THE SAME THING???
