You should be in politics just for the fact that you were able to deliver a system to a Grinch like that! I am usually lucky in this regard - only gracious people people will hire me. The overly retentive will usually reject me way before I have a chance to back out.
But I have had some prospects take me to dinner, just so their staff would say to the current developer(s): Hey - the boss went out with this other programmer last night - better get you butt in gear!
