We build a commercial shrink wrap product using MSDE/SQL Server. MOst of the installation packages have the ability to automatically install MSDE with low effort. We use Wise as our installer.

I dont really see what the big issue here is. Deploying SQL server apps is no different than VFP apps. Each development tool presents its own set of problems.
