I must confess I'm envious of your having decided to make time to study these things.

I too am fond of Jefferson. If I may I'd like to provide you with a further reference for your studies:

http://etext.virginia.edu/jefferson/

I thirst for this knowledge; however I seem to be continually caught up in "retaining my existence," as you so accurately describe it.

It pains me as well to see what's happening to the country I love for its ideals and its people. I happened on an anecdote recently:

"Our train of abuses makes George III's look like a caboose."

We are indeed losing our way, I fear.

Thank you for your reply. You've encouraged me and helped me to remember that there still is time to learn :)

>There is so much more to life than everyday existence. I have a great appreciation for the thoughts of those who have aroused our thinking. My favorite president is Jefferson, and he is also one of my favorite people to study.

>We take many things for granted for many reasons. Trying to retain our existence is a full time accomplishment. It is important for me to reflect upon those writings that influenced why we became a nation. It pains me to see our land become much the way England was during the 18th century. We are forgetting our very foundations and why we are what we are.
