>>Cathy,
>>I've entered several bugs thru the VFP bug web page and the problem is I have no idea if they've been looked at, prioritized, laughed at, forgotten, etc. I feel that if the known bugs were posted here on the UT, I'd at least get some sort of feedback...

>Trust me .. they all get looked at and entered into their internal bug tracking system. The team analyzes them and considers factors such as severity of bug, risk of data loss, risk of breaking other pieces if this is changed, behavior changes and how it affects existing code out in the field, visibility of the bug, how many people would likely run into it, and so on.

OK... which of your messages should one trust?... this one or message #791643 ('...as long as they're reproducible...) or both???

I'll assume they get looked at, logged, and dropped from further review if they cannot be repro'ed. Is that right?

Assuming it is, that's the most serious of the problems with the current mechanism - not even a feedback that it couldn't be reproduced! Some poor guy submits, then hopes to see it fixed in the next release when all the while it was dropped as not reproable.
I can say that there are countless time here where an inititla report of a bug comes back 'unable to repro' (here) yet later, wih a bit more discussion, a repro is developed! As we've learned by this, sometimes it is a (OS) language-specific bug, sometimes it needs some SET at a specific value, sometimes it needs a field name of >10 character, sometimes... ad infinitum!

If we were all to analyze our apps, I'm sure we can all say that there are some known bugs in our system but we just don't have the resources to address each one .. especially the very obscure ones. And I'm sure most of us would also have to say that we don't "publish" a list of these bugs to our clients!!!!

Sometimes, though, clients do keep such lists themselves.
I'll mention again too that when FP was FP (not MS FP) there was a bug list that was current and available and saved many a person lots of grief. And it sure didn't appear to hamper sales in the least.
