>Likewise, if you wish me to ignore the UT entirely I can take my question answering efforts elsewhere. I would think you'd be a bit more interested in finding out a fix that can help the users of the UT.

Of course, but as this situation is pretty much isolated and that I can't reproduce it here, it is extremely difficult for me to find its cause. Then, once the cause found, we would be able to find a solution.

>What I really want is to finally figure out why this error occurs, it first reared its ugly head about a year ago (and the thread I started at that time went nowhere too) when I moved to an NT4/IE6 machine. It's still a problem on this new Win2k/IE6 machine.

Yes, our support prioritize PUTM members. So, other accounts might not have the same level of support when a situation occurs. That might explain why you didn't get some feedback. I don't recall that thread but if you say so that's probably what happened.

>The UT is the only website where I've ever seen a problem like this. The UT uses explicit target=_blank links which open new windows, I don't have any control over that. That is a design decision that you made for this website, and it does cause some people problems.

Well, I wouldn't compare two Web sites that are not doing the same thing. It's no secret to anyone that UT does a lot of stuff and it doesn't mean that it wouldn't happen elsewhere as well.

>Have you taken a look at the settings I've posted so far and checked for any possible conflicts in those?

No, not yet, I don't know when I'll be able to as I need to work on other things right now.

>Let's see, 3 or 4 other people have said they don't see this particular problem, so it doesn't exist?

As you just wrote, 3 or 4 other people have confirmed that they don't have the problem. But, that doesn't mean another one wouldn't have it.

>The error occurs when the new window is closed, not when it is opened. As long as I don't close the new window the original one continues to work. Can you provide a link to the technical quidelines?

>Our network uses Sophos anti-virus I don't see how that can interact with session cookies. I can not disable Sophos. We do not use Zone Alarm or Norton.

Ok, good to know about that. No, I don't thing Sophos would be an issue here.

An old issue was related to Per-Session enabling. But, I haven't heard of that since months now as I think this is now fixed in IE. But, if there is still a setting in regards to that, I would make sure it is enabling. Having it off wouldn't broadcast the session to other windows. But, as you said, the previous window is ok as long as you don't close the new one. So, it seems like a bug in IE as per one of its setting or something similar to that.
