My previous professions was as an electronics engineer. However, I have not worked in that profession for ten years - things change. I would say keep LCD's out of direct sunlight. My wife left her new LCD watch on top of the car's dashboard for a few minutes - face up. The windshield has a sunscreen. The watch no longer works. Perhaps new technology allows LCD displays to work without a problem in sunlight - better check into it.
