>Advisor uses resort areas off season because they believe people want conferences at resorts and the room rates in season are way too expensive. I (along with a number of other speakers) have told them that they should look at other venues. I think it would be helpful if lots of other people told them that, as well.

Well, I think they someone schooled in the art of questionnaires! If you ask me whether I would rather have a Rolls Royce or a Mustang, I'd probably say the Rolls, but that ain't gonna happen. I think it's also a hard sell for many companies when we show up asking to go to "Palm Springs" - even though it is a staging area for Hell during summer - and not a resort.
I think they should opt for more affordable venues and cooler climates also. I'm from the south and don't need any more heat than I get from being a resident! If they want to draw larger crowds, they should cut the cost of the lodging and change the venue to one that doesn't automatically raise a red flag. Maybe I'm looking at it too simplisticly, but it seems a "no brainer."
