>One thing (and there are many) I remember about Orlando is the lightning storms during the summer! Wow! We would stop the car, pull off the road and just watch. At about 9 PM one evening we actually saw lightning in the form of a cross! That was a special event to me. It began at the center and formed a cross as if it was a four-pointed rocket. Unreal!
>Doing some research I read (from several sources not on the Internet) that Orlando, Florida has the greatest number of lightning hits in the world.

As an Orlando Native (3rd generation), you are correct. Violent storms are just part of what they DON'T advertise to bring the tourists in! Then there is the wild life, a Gator was just put down after it attacked and killed a small boy. Orange Count (unincorporated Orlando) was originally named Mosquito County and changed in the 1800's to bring the tourists in, I'm not making this up! Insects thrive here making it easy to mistake a cockroach for a small car. And what is up with the love bugs?

> By the way one day the humidity got down to 99% and the television newsperson was so upset! "It is too dry"! Wow!
> Stand still in Orlando for a few minutes and you will be covered with a light green mold.
> Stand still for an hour and you will be covered with Spanish Moss.
> Stand still for two hours and you are a tourist attraction! :)

LMAO, very true! The good news for us is that when you become a tourist attraction, people will pay to see it. The better news is we will tax the crap out of the attraction so our taxes are lower! We love the tourists, "leave your money right here, thank you".

It's been interesting watching this thread. Our cost of living is much lower than most. Our wages here reflect that.

I'm no longer a full time Visual FoxPro programmer, I migrated to JD Edwards 2 1/2 years ago and love it. I still use VFP for middleware components and some utilities I use (I wrote a kick butt universal browser since I work with DB/2 AS/400, Oracle and MSSQL) My primary responsibility is interoperability, making JD Edwards interact with disparate systems and life is good....
