I was trying to choose my words carefully, maybe I wasn't careful enough. When making personal decisions, don't people try to choose the path that is best for them? It may or may not turn out to be the best, but isn't that the goal?

I say this in defense of those who have chosen that path (the .NET path), presumably they believe it to be best, or at least a good path...yet other people question their motivation.
