As per the documentation of SET COMPATIBLE, VFP should ask you to conver memo files into fox format as soon as you USE the dbf. I am not sure VFP can read/write to .dbt without first converting it to FPT.

The interesting thing would be to test if Clipper can read/write to VFP modified FPTs.
