Thanks Gary for the info. Right before I read your message I tried changing my declaration of the object from

createobjectex()
to
createobject()

and everything seems to work with the array in VFP7 SP1 - don't know why but it does.

Thanks for your ideas. If I find that this procedure stops working I'll know I need to do those steps and move to vfp8.
