>As a taker of the VFP exam preceeding the VFP 6 exam, an exam now no longer valid, my question is when will the VFP 6.0 exam no longer count for anything in M$ exam hierarchy? After all VFP 8.0 is the current version and Europa is on its way. I agree that it makes no sense for a VFP 8 developer such as myself to seriously consider taking a VFP 6.0 exam, which soon no one will even be able to take. I suspect that we will never vben any VFP exams again. M$ is turning the niche language of FoxPro into a legacy language. Open source anyone!
As described in
http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2001/Oct01/10-11MCPUpdatesPR.asp, exams are being versioned, so the older ones aren't being obsoleted when newer technology comes along. However, I expect that in the year 2025 the vFP6 exams will no longer be valid. < g >
As for whether taking the current exams "makes no sense" or not, you have to examine what your goals are and see if the exams do or don't help you achieve your goals. The certification itself is not the only benefit from preparing for and taking the exams.
