Good morning Jim and happy Friday to you;

One of the things we did in the Air Force during the mid 1960’s was to play “War Games”. This consisted of “what if scenarios”. Even today I do not like to discuss the concepts that were used as to how we would be attacked – it is too frightening! The mentality of the day focused on counterattacking the USSR. We would simply attack the USSR if we were attacked. I still remember the numbers of aircraft and missiles they had and we had and all the details. It was called “Nuclear Deterrent”!

To add to the “flavor” of the War Games we did “off the wall scenarios” that involved countries attacking us such as Guatemala, as well as unknown countries. Congress and the Pentagon did not like us! Everyone knows the pinkos are trying to destroy us and will never attack due to our defense strategy!

Well, here we are today with the threat that anyone – even an American - could well blow up the nation or start a virus attack upon the population. The rational for destroying us is simple. It could be for religious reasons or a person or group that wants to protect pets, plants or the environment. Rationalization will get you far in life and is a great motivator.

In 1967 I left the Air Force and did not wish to reenlist. We could at that time destroy the world 7 1/2 times with nuclear weapons and the USSR could destroy the world 4 times.

I was shocked a few years ago to learn how things had "improved". I remember Harry Truman’s warning on this issue. How have things improved? Why according to the report we can now destroy the world 770 times with nuclear weapons! That is a vast “improvement”. Granted it takes only one nuclear device well placed to “get attention”.

>As strange as it may sound, at that very time I was working my way though Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders". It seems he, in 1996, was quite able to predict it. It was uncanny. A real paranoid might even think that it was a blueprint for the attack.
