In order to avoid issues with other software and the once-renowned "DLL hell", the Company I work for places all of the Visual FoxPro runtime files and other required DLLs in the application directory they create when they install our system.I don't know if this is the best approach, but I also do this way: in a file server create a directory where all VFP runtime files, executables and needed dlls are placed.
I've been doing this for years, and had no problems till now. When a new user needs access to some application the systems support guys give him/her the appropriate permissions, create a shortcut in his/her computer desktop to the desired app and that's all.
We also implement a login security system to allow specific operations/functions to each app user gets access to (allowing specific menus and menu itens etc to be shown/accessed)
