We did not face any problem with Novell and FPD26 (running for last 6 years). May be your problem is hardware oriented. It will be worth checking the hub/switch and cables for the connectivity. May be, there are some specific workstations which are corrupting the cdx. If possible, try to figure out those workstation and check the connectivity.
