Hi Kevin - I have not been able to run profiler with an executable. I have put some wait windows in to see where the slow down is. First, my app has code added in 2 methods. In the before readevents, I populate some global varaiables from a system setup record. In the add children, I add stonefiled and abstract factory. Both have a dodefault. I have commented out both, with no change in the speed or slowdown. I have used a slower machine, 500 chip with winnt as the first machine to run the executable. It will run fine. fire up the 2nd machjine, a 3.0 ghz, and it runs very slow wqhile the 500 run quite fast. Reverse the machines and the reverse happens.

Will VFP run profiler under the executable? When I run it, I cannot find the log file. I have even hard coded the path for the log file. but still not there. If I run it in development, profiler works fine.

From the time goapp is declared public until goapp=createobject(appclass) is 38 seconds. 10 of that is from the before dodefault() in addchildren of my app to the time stonefiled is added. 16 seconds from the time stonefiled is added to the time abstractfactory is added, and 12 seconds from the time abstractfactory has been added and the app has been created. 9 more secondes from that point until I see a login form.

Can I use profiler running an executable. Slater had tried it as well and he couldn't get it to work.

Thanks Kevin. If you prefer I can send this stuff via e-mail rather than the ut. I have to believe there are many hundreds of apps out there with the combination so there must be something screwy I am doing, but I don't see it. One other clue. The app wass developed over a long elapsed period of time (2-3 years). Perhaps I missed something in moving the app from one upgrade of MM to another. I don't remember what it started out in though.

Thanks again for any insight or thoughts. Tom

>>Hi Kevin - Boy, thanks for the reply. I am absolutely stumped. I have run profiler. Nothing out of the ordinary. A few redundant requeries and refreshes. I sent the app over to Jim Slater. He is running windows 2003 server and the same thing happens. 1st user is super fast or acceptably fast, second and subsequent, well over 30 seconds for the login to come in, 10+ seconds to refesh the form after a find. I have recompiled under vfp 8 and same results.

>But when you run profiler on the second machine, it must be indicating what's taking over 30 seconds? Run it on the first machine, and then on the second machine and compare the results.

>I don't have any silver bullet here, but I do know we have many, many developers running the same versions of MM VFP, and Visual FoxPro and they're not experiencing this slow-down.
