It could be a caching problem, or perhaps DNS. Did you change machine IPs? I have occasionally run into this problem on development machines, that are running the web server, database, and the web browser all on the same machine. And aspnet_wp.exe sometimes consumes too much memory, and the web server can server the page. But, I haven't run into it on the production machine, because we don't run all the database, web server etc on the same machine.
