Page not found error with ASP.NET pages

I have occasionally run into this problem on development machines, that are running the web server, database, and the web browser all on the same machine. And aspnet_wp.exe sometimes consumes too much memory, and the web server can server the page. But, I haven't run into it on the production machine, because we don't run all the database, web server etc on the same machine.

I think I may have found the cause of the problem. In the .NET framework 1.0 I had to occasionally manually clear the temporary internet files folder because new files wouldn't be recognized. Moving to .NET 1.1 and not uploading files while there are people using the app seems to have solved the problem. I am still crossing my fingers.
