It's really too bad too. Clipper was one of the finest DOS based programming languages I ever saw. The only thing I ever used that compared was a programming language called FORCE. It was a kind of cross between Clipper and C. It was extremely clipper-like but it was strong typed and had more low level functionality built in. It also compiled directly to machine code. I don't know what ever became of it. They were going to introduce a Windows version, but I never saw it. It also had a great tight community of users. It was out of Germany as I recall.

>>>Gerry, What did CA do, that you dropped Clipper?
>>
>>- Jacked up the price
>>- Made promises about ship dates that were never realized (and asked you to pay "up front")
>>- Started offering all kinds of "schmaltzy" service plans like Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc. ... that could run you as much as $1200 US. ... for dick all ..
>>- The initial releases of CA-Visual Objects (the "Windows" version of Clipper) were buggy as all h*ll
>>- The executives of CA were fat and ugly, and had no personality ... didn't even qualify as geeks
>>
>>(Actually ... I don't even think CA is "american" .... whatever that means).
