Did you upgrade your .NET Framework to 1.1 ? Did you install IIS After or Before you 1.1 Framework install? If after, then you need to go into
c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\ and run
aspnet_regiis.exe

So IIS, knows about the latest .NET Framework.
