Hi Tracy,
What do people REALLY need Yukon for? What makes it a killer product that can not be missed?
I have very serious doubts about companies moving into the proprietary stuff that all db makers are adding to their products. As far as our development are concerned, we try to avoid the "unique source" syndrom for db engines.
We try to develop multi-platform in terms of db (currently MS SQL server and Sybase ASA) with a view to incorporate support for "open source" ones when mature. A lot of developper feel that db should remain db ie data, not application servers...
In view of what has happened to java-in-the-db, i would definitely not make assumptions on the success of "yukon new stuff" in big corporations. Even with MS in the tech driving seat.
Regards
