While Fox sits on its laurels for being a very fast file database (actually I think everyone else has probably caught up in the last ten years...), I have to say it is noticably slower in screen refresh than any other product I have used. VB on a machine with half the speed and memory of my current system was snappy, even with numerous ActiveX controls. VFP is merely adequate.
Absolutely ... FPW 2.6 was the fastest of them all !
After VFP came out, I benchmarked Delphi, C++, VB, dBase, PowerBuilder, Optima ... and VFP consistently came last, no matter how you tweaked it. I started resorting to API calls. The only relief came from new processor upgrades.
