For all of my time here on the UT (a few years now), and all of the time spent learning VFP (even moreso today), I would say that what some people are missing is parity.

To elaborate - there are some of us who cannot get to the US (even though I have only lived overseas for 10yr) because of finance, politics, war, etc.. Hey, it can't be done. We don't get DEVCON, FOXCON, MYCON, or YOURCON. We love VFP, but hate our lack of infomation, resources, and training. There are a few avenues for us to use (in random order), but IMHO the main ones are:

1. Foxtalk
2. FTA
3. VFUG (yes Barbara, I do read what you send me)
4. UT
5. FoxWiki
6. A myriad of Websites

Well, for those of us not MVP, MCP, SIR CODESALOT, MAXIMUM, OBE, or otherwise certified, the articles in these locations are invaluable. But, there is a subtle difference between the skill level of certain readers/users over others - and I am sorry to say, I know of several (more than a handful, less than a hundred) highly skilled VFP personages who have never printed or published formal work. I see them every day here and on the FoxWiki.

They don't contribute. I don't contribute - this is true. But by golly, only today (with the patience of a good teacher) have come to grips with VFP8 DE/CA classes. Shudders!!! Yep - I am slow off the mark because I have those limited resources.

Now, what does this have to do with '...need a booster'?

From my point of view, just about every article (yes, there are fewer in each issue) which has a download file is priceless. It is no doubt because I am slow - but the contributers (sp?) who write the articles and the samples always fuddle my mind to the point where I studiously STUDY the code to figure out why/whatfor/whatif. In the last year alone, the quantity of material has reduced - the quality of issue covered has dynamically increased. I am happy with Foxtalk. I don't do VPA - just don't have the time.

So, who is unhappy with FoxTalk? IMHO, those who already know heaps more than me about VFP. They don't like FoxTalk being smaller because there is a good chance they already KNOW about the articles content in the first place. Instead of being unhappy, maybe they could contribute something, just once...

I wish I could be bored with FoxTalk... because then I would contribute...
