Hello John, thanks for your junpin-in. See my comments.

>We have hours and hours of meetings to consider every request submitted by the community. Every single request.

Does the team ever ask the requester for additional info, or perhaps even to somehow participate in a meeting?

>And, yes, we do evaluate the ratings.

I have made a comment about 'only one person who's frequently giving [a negative] score to any item that he/she doesn't fully understand/appreciate'. Does the team recognize that such scores could cause bias? See also message #849865.

>Sometimes we agree to a change, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we agree but modify the desired behavior or outcome.
>It would be an administrative nightmare to post or email the results of a specific request. Sometimes, we get several change requests that are similar from diverse sources. Other times, we lump together requests in specific areas from, again, diverse sources.

If things are administered well right from the start, then it should be manageable. And as it's now, it's also a 'nightmare' for 'us' to track things afterwards. Maybe we can reach hands (is that also an English saying?), both parties could try to do something about this.

>Furthermore, what if we think an enhancement would be great -- tell the requester the same - and then find that it can't be technically done? Then we look like jerks.

Well, you could tell the requester after having succeeded. Or a list could be published with a new beta. Wouldn't it be nice for a requester to know that some request really made it and that he/she was the one who inspired the foxteam?! It would certainly further stimulate us to make new requests.

>We simply can't personally respond to every enhancement requests for the aforementioned reasons. OTOH, we are traditionally the most customer-driven team at MS. Feel free to email me with an issue at any time @ jkoziol@microsoft.com

Actually, I remember some items we emailed about. I guess, they're now deep down in your inbox (as in mine :).

>Some of us on the team were Fox developers before we joined Microsoft. So we're very sensitive to your needs. Our burning goal is for you to find sucess with VFP.

I know and I appreciate it very much. :)
Groet,
Peter de Valença

Constructive frustration is the breeding ground of genius.
If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
"There are three types of people: Alphas and Betas", said the beta decisively.
