Title:
Main page article re MS spending $10bln on small business
I saw the article title and immediately had to read it.
It stated that a Microsoft executive (yet they gave to title so its hard to be sure) named Orlando Ayala was interviewed and said that MS would be spending $2 billion per year over 5 years on R&D for the small/medium business market.
Mr. Ayala is claimed to have stated that there are 40 million such businesses in the world.
The bubble was burst a bit further down the article though when it was said that the target was companies with "2,000 to 5,000 employees, or maybe up to 8,000".
That seems a distinctly odd definition of small/medium business and certainly well outside the bounds of all 40 million businesses cited earlier. I guess they are going for the upper .001% of the small/medium business market. Spending 10 billion on that market does seem a tad overkill to me. Maybe they could give the VFP Team $1 billion of that to address the remaining 99.999% of the small/medium business market.
