Hi Fernando,
Sadly we have learned that we must be on guard when a MS executive uses the term "small/medium businesses".

My calculation could be off, but it looks to me that 40 million small/medium businesses, each having only 2,000 employees (disregard 5,000 or 8,000) means that there would be 80 BILLION employees in such companies. That's more than the population of the entire world.

So I arrived at .001% as a possible value for the real companies that could be targeted.
That would mean something over 39,000,000 companies left and at $500. per copy of VFP I've gotta think that is a market worthy of pursuit by M$.

cheers

>>The bubble was burst a bit further down the article though when it was said that the target was companies with "2,000 to 5,000 employees, or maybe up to 8,000".

>>That seems a distinctly odd definition of small/medium business and certainly well outside the bounds of all 40 million businesses cited earlier.

>I had the very same thought as you!

>At the beginning of the article I was wondering if that was not a chance to pump VFP sales (naive I am, he!), but when I got to the 2,000, 5,000 and 8,000 figures I got amazed about MS definition of small/medium business!

>I can tell you that, in Brazil, there aren't so many companies that fit in that market definition.
