Enterprise Mangler - er, sorry, Manager - is exactly that: a management tool. It is not designed as a data handling tool, and has some limitations, as you have discovered.
I'm not sure but I think that Query Analyzer has the same kind of limitation. The object of either tool is to show you enough to prove that data is there, and do some rudimentary editing. They are NOT designed as fool-proof front-ends.
If you are using VFP it would be easier to create a remote view in a disposable project to get at the data for review and testing purposes. If you need to let the great unwashed - er, users - get at the data, then, you'll need something stronger.
