Ok, here's some additional information regarding the problem with updating a sql table's column with a datatype of text using a remote view.

If appears in the enterprise manager for that column, then my VFP update program gives an update conflict error message.

There must be some incompatibility problem with the kind of text that is stored in this sql text field. Once that descripter appears there, it's impossible to update that text field using vfp and a remote view with even a simple character replacement such as 'X'.

However, if I use the sql query analyzer to replace the text, that replacement can be made without a problem. And if I update the column (using sql) with a simple character string, then no longer appears if a select statement is run. After that my VFP update program runs fine.

Does anyone have insight as to why this is happening? Thanks in advance.
