Thanks again (wiping my nose:-). My SYS(2019) comes up blank. My SYS(2023) reads:C:\DOCUME~1\TERRYT~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP, but when I look for it in explorer, the tree does not go beyond "TERRYT", IOW, there is no branch that begins with "LOCAL". Perhaps it is hidden.

[And] using SET TMPFILES (regardless of how the argument is stated) yields errors.

There is a C:\TEMP, but redirecting is not working on my my desktop. I have noticed that ISE somes prohibits me from renaming source directories - I wonder if that could have anything to do with it?

Further, I believe that the docs may be in error beyond this. I haven't tested, but from some of the posts I've read, if no temporary directory is indicated, the files go to the Windows temp folder.
