I dont think that the "VFP only forum" argument is to dictate what one should or should not say. At least I dont think it should. Its asking what can one expect to hear in this forum, which is afterall a forum primarily attended by VFP users? What reaction can one expect from the users of this forum iro certain statements about VFP? Its obvious.

Similarly, if I go to a pro-Java forum and post messages repeatedly stating that Java's popularity is in decline and that I can "see" the end is coming then I will surely get the expected and obvious replies. To then add that because my posts managed to irritate a number of people that I must be doing the "right thing" is just a wierd conclusion to my way of thinking.

It's not that the content of the posts is necessarily right or wrong. Its the surprise some show when the obvious reactions are forthcoming, and the conclusions they draw from them.

I am all in favour for learning about new technologies and applications. An open and informative discourse on new techniques and dev tools is great. I am sure that I speak for the majority when I say that. But that "other horse" has been beaten, flogged, hung, drawn, and quartered to death already :)
