>>As you said, I was way ahead of the curve.

Yeah, well lots of us were even ahead of you, so I guess our heads must now be so big we can't get through doorways ;-)

Remember that unlike others who just talked, people like me actually *acted* and moved to Java ... too early, it wasn't ready for delivered applications. Which is a lesson in itself. Festina Lente, "Make haste slowly". I guess you've got a similar sad story- you promoted movement to VB and/or ADO at a time when MS was about to replace both because of deficiencies; a lot of us felt embarrassed for you over that.

>>History has proven me largely correct in just about every prediction I have made.

Yes, and the fellow who stands with a megaphone at Piccadilly saying "repent, repent, you will all die" feels the same.

You know what? People here *can* see what is happening to VFP. They may *regret* it, or hope for a miracle, or wish that there is something they can do to change it... but all of these desires must start from a good understanding of the reality. People *can* see the obvious, though they may not like it... they do not want to be told the reality over and over as if they are the most exasperating sort of dullard student... and they may make different choices from you, without necessarily being stupid.

As for the Hope; why must you dash it? People come to their truths their own way. Sometimes they create their own truths, as any student of American history will be well aware. Who knows what will happen in 2004? Perhaps a killer app will appear written in VFP, creating opportunities that none of us even dream about today. Or perhaps the sky will fall, in which case we might as well take it easy.

In the meantime, if something new happens from your perspective- e.g. if you decide to earn your living developing dotNET apps for customers- please tell us so people can see you are putting your money where your mouth is, but apart from that, Fournier's hard drives are awash with these opinions and surely we all have productive things to do!
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
