Greetings Craig,
>I took a quick look at licensing information at >
http://www.businessobjects.com/products/reporting/crystalreports/licensing/details.asp>and didn't see anything that had changed from CR9.
Here's an excerpt from Business Object's licensing requirements for Crystal Reports 10:
Royalty-required APIs
Crystal Reports also offers a powerful set of report creation APIs to let end users create reports from within your thick-client application. To use these APIs when building your application, you must purchase a copy of Crystal Reports Advanced to access these API's. Then, when you are ready to deploy or redistribute your application, each company deploying this thick-client application is required to purchase a copy of Crystal Reports Advanced Developer. For volume licensing, contact our OEM Department: OEMinfo@businessobjects.com.
This tells me that there isn't an option to purchase a Runtime Creation API (RCAPI) license for version 10 like there was in version 9. This also tells me that the cost for a developer to be able to access the RCAPI methods in Crystal Reports 10 is around $1610 for an upgrade to the Advanced Developer version.
I hope someone can show me where I've missed something here.
Best regards,
Randy McAtee
