I readily concede that if people want to learn how to write articles and books, "JVP is the man",

Tamar might disagree with you here as this appears to be her new niche...Nonetheless, I appreciate the props...

but when it comes to making a living... which I assume is what interests many/most people here... well, lets just say that most lawyers know not to ask a question unless they know the answer ;-)

I make a good enough living that I was able to go to law school for the past 4 years and still work at this job...;)

People lose faith in Fox because of their own experience - not because of my opinion.

when you yourself remain in a fulltime VFP role, I call that FUD.

Let me tell you an ironic story...as to how I landed my current gig. On pure qualifications, I had it hands down - but that was not the whole story. What the interviewer wanted to know was my opinions on Fox. I was honest. I explained that while Fox was and continues to be a solid tool - its best days are behind it and that companies thinking strategically (especially those in a distributed environment) - if they have not done so - need to make plans to migrate from the tool.

The response from one of the guys who interviewed me (and I am paraphrasing here but this is the gist nonetheless) - "Finally....a Fox developer who understands the issues and does not waste time defending the tool."

You see JR - I have always liked Fox and I respect the tool. Nonetheless, I understand its role today. The role is an ever-diminishing one.

The irony...I landed this Fox/Oracle gig by not defending the tool in light of the realities of the real world.

And yes....I have turned them on to the power of SP's and viola....they know see their way clear to going to a platform that will better support the development of an international/multi-lingual distributed application. Heretofore, they have been using RV's. And I do have to say, that in all the scnerios I have seen, this crew did the best job of making RV's "work". But...there were and are still issues that make it a PITA. They, like so many companies, once they see the reality, recognize that SP-based data logic is a necessary ingredident to better app/data independence.

Distasteful FUD; some of those people have families to feed. How about "YOU FIRST?"
>

Yes...I have a family to feed too. I can't help it if some are dependant on Fox's survival. IMO, if people have put themselves in that position based on what is/has been going on - that is too bad. I guess they chose to listen to people like you instead of people like me. Perhaps it is you JR that should do the explaining to these people...
