I don't really want to give away my age, ...........but, I remember a horse and wagon coming to the house on a regular basis to deliver a large block of ice for our ice box. The driver would always chip off good size hunks and give to us kids, especially during the summer.

>Those metal ice trays were great. They froze faster and had a handle that when lifted would pop the ice cubes out. I don't think you can even find them anymore! Nowadays I use the automatic ice dispenser in the door of my fridge. It makes crushed ice... Now that was hard in the old days!
