It is not so much that I require proof. Rather, in some cases, I simply ask the person to articulate how they arrived at their conclusion. In many cases, where it is obvious and in the domain of public knowledge, or if I happen to know the person is correct, I don't bother asking. i.e., I don't ask a person to substantitate something just for the sake of doing so...
