It's not an attack - it's a ridlle with the answer. JVP is a b.a.d-a.s.s developer and is too strong of an engineer for a backwoods coder like me to even think about "one-up-ing".

JVP is a very important, dedicated member of the community - his posts should be required reading! He makes it exciting and interesting. I could not imagine the comunity without JVP.

I just wanted to emphasize - that we (the developers) are the ones solving problems. Our tools are nothing without us. We should avoid allowing the discourse to place more importance on what tool we use than what we do with that tool.

To non-developers - it may be confusing. They may actually think that the brand of paintbrush is more important than the skills of the painter. They will do that (poor users:-), if we allow it!

>1st - I like your thread title, I was wondering when it would get to that direct an attack, but don't discourage JVP too much, he adds humor to my day.

>2nd - I also agree the developer and his skills are much more important than the tool. One of the things I like about the VFP developers is (in general) they have a lot of experience in it. Nobody has more than a couple years experience in .Net and just because there are a billion VB programmers I am quite certain their average skill level is much lower (not saying there arn't great VB programmers, but there are a lot of bad ones). Take this example, would you rather go to a skilled surgeon with more basic, proven tools or would you prefer the med student with latest high power laser gizmo cutting into you?
