We have some legacy DOS applications that are written in Foxpro 2.5 that use implicit file locking. The problem we encounter from time to time is that sometimes if an application crashes or locks up, a data file will get left in a state that prevents anyone from opening it until the file server is restarted.

The file server the application is running on is a Windows 2000 server and the workstation is running Windows 98 SE or Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
